The U.S. Secret Service joins forces with Canadian law enforcement agencies to combat Ethereum phishing scams

Gate.io News bot, according to TheBlock, the U.S. Secret Service and the Canadian British Columbia Securities Commission have launched a cross-border cooperation to carry out a crackdown codenamed "Operation Avalanche". During the operation, a number of Ethereum "authorization phishing" scams were discovered, and the victims' wallets lost about $4.3 million cumulatively.

The Secret Service's Washington Field Office provided support for the operation. Law enforcement, in conjunction with multiple Canadian police agencies, crypto trading platforms, and blockchain analytics firms, has issued a warning to wallet holders who have been victims of fraud. At present, law enforcement agencies have interrupted the scam and successfully frozen some of the stolen assets, which will be returned to the victims.
