Bloomberg: The G7 may discuss threats related to North Korea's support for encryption attacks in June.
BlockBeats news, on May 8, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday, citing informed sources, that the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) may discuss the escalating threats posed by cyberattacks supported by North Korea and cryptocurrency theft activities at next month's summit in Canada. According to knowledgeable sources, North Korea's cybercrime activities that provide funding for the regime have raised serious alarms—White House officials had previously disclosed that North Korea is financing its military weapons program through cryptocurrency plundering. According to data from the blockchain analysis company Chainalysis, North Korean hackers stole $1.34 billion through 47 attacks in 2024, accounting for 61% of the total cryptocurrency stolen globally that year. The company pointed out that hacker techniques are becoming increasingly sophisticated, making it more difficult to trace stolen funds.
