Currently, the fighting between Israel and Iran is escalating, raising concerns about a broader conflict. For years, Tim Kaine of Virginia has been trying to reclaim Congress's war powers from the White House. During Trump's first term, in 2020, Kaine introduced a similar resolution to curb Trump's ability to wage war against Iran. This measure passed in both the Senate and the House, garnering some Republican support, but did not receive enough votes to withstand a veto from the Republican president.
