The World's Largest Bank JPMorgan Has Officially Made an Application Concerning Cryptocurrencies!
The world's largest bank, JPMorgan Chase, seems to be preparing to launch a new stablecoin called "JPMD". In its application to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the bank wants to register the JPMD trademark covering areas such as digital asset trading, transfer, payment services, electronic fund transfers, securities brokerage, instant token trading, custody services, and secure online financial transactions.
JPMorgan stands out as one of the first adopters of blockchain technology among major financial institutions. The bank uses blockchain in various areas, from payment services to data transfer, and also provides services to large cryptocurrency exchanges like Coinbase.
However, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon is known for his distant stance towards cryptocurrencies. Speaking at the investor day held in May, Dimon clearly stated that he is not a fan of Bitcoin, saying, "I think we shouldn't smoke, but I defend your right to smoke. In the same way, I defend your right to buy Bitcoin."
By 2025, major banks have begun to expand their services related to crypto assets, influenced by increasing customer demand and a more favorable regulatory environment. Last month, Bloomberg reported that JPMorgan's rival Morgan Stanley plans to add cryptocurrency trading services to the E*Trade platform.
