El Salvador adds 8 Bitcoin despite IMF concerns while holding nearly 680 million dollars.

El Salvador has added 8 BTC to its national reserves over the past week, bringing the total amount of Bitcoin held to 6,230.18 BTC, worth approximately $679 million. This purchase reflects the country's commitment to cryptocurrency as part of its financial strategy. Since adopting Bitcoin as legal tender in 2021, El Salvador, under the leadership of President Nayib Bukele, has accumulated Bitcoin during market downturns. Despite an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to limit public sector Bitcoin accumulation, the country continues to maintain its daily purchase program. However, Bitcoin adoption within the community remains low, with only 8.1% of the population using it for transactions last year, and security issues with the Chivo wallet have dampened enthusiasm.
