Scroll Co-founding: After the Mainnet launch, the ecosystem focuses on real applications with a TVL exceeding $19.3 million.
Scroll Co-founder Haichen: The launch of the Mainnet is a new starting point, and the ecosystem will focus on real-world applications.
Scroll, as an open-source Layer 2 solution led by Asian entrepreneurs, has always received significant attention from the community. After two years of intensive development and one year of testing, the Scroll Mainnet officially launched on October 10, 2023.
As of October 27, the total locked value on the Scroll chain is (TVL), which has exceeded 19.3 million USD. The number of mainnet wallet addresses has surpassed 147,000, with a total of over 860,000 verified transactions. Between October 20 and 26, the average daily number of transactions was nearly 80,000, with the highest single-day transaction volume on October 22 reaching 101,375 transactions.
Recently, Scroll hosted the ETH Hong Kong event at Hong Kong Cyberport, which is the first event held by the Ethereum community in Hong Kong. During the event, Scroll co-founder Haichen Shen was interviewed, sharing the development status and future plans of Scroll.
Haichen stated that the launch of the Mainnet is an important milestone for Scroll, but also a new starting point. The team will continue to roll out more features to further enhance security, reduce user costs, and provide developers with more tools to create more innovative applications.
Regarding the reasons for choosing the zkEVM solution, Haichen believes that zk can provide users with faster and stronger security guarantees. At the same time, EVM equivalence allows developers to directly port Ethereum development tools to Layer 2 without modification, avoiding the introduction of additional bugs and unexpected situations.
In terms of technical details, Scroll writes zero-knowledge proof circuits in a way that is closest to EVM and supports the most precompiled contracts. The sorter is deployed based on Go-Ethereum, providing stronger compatibility for users and developers.
Speaking of ecological development, Haichen stated that Scroll will first focus on infrastructure support, such as RPC, indexing, cross-chain bridges, and oracles. After that, more DeFi applications will be deployed. In the long run, Scroll hopes to build an open and neutral platform that treats all developers equally.
Haichen particularly mentioned that Scroll will pay more attention to supporting real-world applications, such as stablecoin payments and AA wallet projects, as well as public goods projects that benefit the development of the entire ecosystem. In the future, there are plans to incentivize developers to deploy contracts on Scroll through means such as NFTs.
In terms of the competition in the Layer 2 track, Haichen believes that the entire ecosystem is still in its infancy. zk Rollup still needs to address some issues, such as decentralization and enhancing security. He believes that the Layer 2 market is not a zero-sum game, but rather a field that can continually expand. In the future, more developers will need to create innovative projects on zk Rollup to further promote the development of the entire ecosystem.
