Challenges and Opportunities for Content Creators in Encryption Social Media

In April 2023, I and several friends began to be active on a encryption social platform. At that time, we mainly wrote content related to airdrop strategies. Each article took 1-2 hours to write, yet could gain 100,000 views in just 12 hours. Our daily routine became a simple cycle: wake up, write, publish, eat, sleep, and repeat.

Looking back at that time, our small group of creators may have accounted for about 10% of the attention on the entire platform. Thinking about it now, that truly was a golden era.

Personally, I receive 1-2 collaboration invitations from project parties every month, hoping to promote their activities. However, at that time, we valued influence more than monetary returns.

One morning, I was amazed to find that the content posted by my account with only 10,000 followers had actually received 400,000 views. The feeling at that moment was unbelievable, and the joy it brought far exceeded the numbers in my wallet (even though it was only four digits at the time, it was the first time in my life I had earned so much).

This situation continued until September 2023, when the platform's algorithm changed. Meanwhile, I temporarily left this community and did not return until December 2023. The reason for leaving was that there were some interesting things in real life that needed to be dealt with, and during that time I posted a maximum of three updates per month.

Around August 2023, I realized that the airdrop field was not a long-term solution and was not suitable for my development. So I decided to transition and become a newcomer in decentralized finance (DeFi).

Looking back now at those creators who once focused on airdrop content, they seem to have disappeared without a trace. I can hardly see them in the information feed.

In December 2023, I embarked on a new chapter in my social media career. I adopted a new writing style, put in more effort, used new illustrations, and expanded my network. However, unexpectedly, the views on my content decreased.

Yes, you heard it right, the views have indeed decreased. I have started to put in much more effort than before, but a single post might only get 20,000 views. Sometimes it can reach 100,000 views, but overall the situation is not as good as it used to be.

How is the current situation? Due to the popularity of certain narratives, many people have begun to publish low-quality content. The overall quality of content has significantly declined, and the motivation for the vast majority of people to publish content has become utilitarian.

The more rewards the project party allocates to promoters, the worse the situation becomes.

I feel that the quality of my content has reached my personal highest level, while the effort I put in is constantly increasing. However, the number of views and new followers has dropped to a historic low.

My entire information flow is filled with content from certain rankings, most of which lack substantial value.

How should we respond to this situation?

Perhaps during the market's quiet period, we should strive to provide valuable content, continuously improve content quality, and work towards being unique. At the same time, we can engage in discussions on various protocols and contribute meaningful insights as much as possible.
