1. Overview of the Kaia Blockchain Ecosystem

1.1 Background and Team

Kaia is a new blockchain ecosystem formed by the merger of Klaytn under Kakao and Finschia under LINE. Klaytn was launched by Ground X in June 2019, with early alliances including well-known South Korean companies such as LG Electronics and Celltrion. Finschia was launched by LINE in December 2022, and a foundation was established in Abu Dhabi to operate it in April 2023. The two chains officially merged into Kaia at the end of August 2024, managed by the newly established Kaia DLT Foundation.

Kaia is committed to becoming a high-performance L1 public chain focused on large-scale applications, featuring high TPS and developer-friendly characteristics. Kaia adopts a layered node architecture and utilizes an improved Byzantine Fault Tolerance consensus algorithm. The network achieves a 1-second block time and instant finality, currently having over 50 consensus nodes, with a theoretical peak throughput of approximately 4000 TPS.

Kaia is EVM compatible and supports Ethereum ecosystem smart contracts. Through various cross-chain bridge integrations, it enables asset interoperability with chains like Ethereum. Kaia also deeply integrates with the LINE ecosystem, allowing developers to directly deploy native Dapps within the chat application.

Kaia adopts a sustainable token economic model, with the native token KAIA used for paying transaction fees and incentivizing network operation. During the merger, the existing tokens of Klaytn and Finschia are converted into KAIA at an agreed ratio.

2.1 Kaia Wave plan and Mini Dapp ecosystem

In August 2024, the Kaia mainnet will go live and launch the Kaia Wave program, enabling developers to build Mini Dapps for LINE users through the NEXT WEB SDK developed by LINE NEXT. The first batch of Mini Dapp projects will go live in the first quarter of 2025, covering multiple tracks.

The Dapp Portal was also launched simultaneously, serving as a directory and entry point for Dapps that can be accessed directly through LINE. Users can discover and use various Kaia ecosystem Dapps without leaving the LINE environment.

2.2 Kaia Stablecoin plan

In May 2025, Kaia cooperated with Tether to issue USDT natively on-chain. These USDT have been integrated into the LINE Mini Dapp ecosystem, enabling the daily use of stablecoins. Multiple mainstream exchanges have also supported the USDT-KAIA network.

Kaia also plans to launch a Korean Won stablecoin, leveraging the experience the team has accumulated in the South Korean central bank's CBDC project.
