Numerai encrypts its trading data first, and then shares the encrypted data to data scientists - so that scientists have no chance to copy the fund's trading strategy. However, the company will finely design encrypted data to enable scientists to model based on the data, so as to obtain more profits in the transaction. Numerai began issuing a total of onemillion numeraire tokens to 12000 scientists on February 21. The higher the score of a scientist, the more tokens he can get. Numerai cannot be used as money to buy goods in the market. It is only used to encourage scientists to establish successful machine learning models, and then make profits through trading in the real market. If scientists make profits from the transaction, they can get numeraire token and win bitcoin "bonus"; if the transaction is a loss, they can't get "salary" and the company will "destroy" their numeraire token.
