BlackRock applies for a digital share class for its $150 billion money fund, possibly laying out a strategy for digital money.

According to Wu, Bloomberg ETF analyst Henry Jim has reported that BlackRock has applied to establish a digital share class, DLT Shares, for its $150 billion money market fund. This share class is intended to be sold through BNY Mellon and plans to utilize blockchain technology to synchronize the recording of holder information, potentially preparing for future applications of digital money or digital cash. A preliminary prospectus has been submitted to the SEC.
