BREAKING NEWS: A Trade Agreement Has Been Reached Between the US and China in Geneva!
The White House announced that the US and China have reached an agreement in important trade talks held in Geneva.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated after meetings held in Switzerland, "I am pleased to report that we have made significant progress in the very important trade discussions between the United States and China. I would like to thank the Swiss government for providing this wonderful environment. This productive atmosphere ensured that the discussions were constructive."
It was stated that the discussions included the Deputy Prime Minister and two Deputy Ministers from China, as well as U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer and Treasury Secretary Bessent. Secretary Bessent added that President Donald Trump has been thoroughly informed about the process and that a comprehensive press release will be made tomorrow morning.
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer stated that the discussions were extremely constructive, saying, "Reaching an agreement within these two days shows that the differences between the parties are not as great as believed. However, a rigorous preparation process was undertaken to reach this point. At the core of these discussions is the U.S.'s $1.2 trillion trade deficit. The President declared a national emergency for this reason and began implementing tariffs. We believe that the agreement we reached with our Chinese partners is an important step towards resolving this emergency."
