Public Companies Surpass Bitcoin Accumulation ETFs in the Third Quarter
Public companies are displaying an even more aggressive stance regarding Bitcoin BTCUSD, even more than the highly praised exchange-traded funds (ETFs). For the third consecutive quarter, they purchased more BTC than ETFs in the second quarter of 2025.
This trend signifies a broader strategic shift towards the adoption of Bitcoin as a balance sheet asset by institutional treasuries.
Corporate Treasuries Are Leading in Bitcoin Accumulation
Just a month ago, BeInCrypto reported that over 60 companies were following MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin strategy, and this report came before the closing of the second quarter (Q2).
According to the latest findings, publicly traded companies continue to pursue the MicroStrategy strategy and are increasingly popularizing this strategy in the crypto-friendly regulatory environment of the United States.
According to Bitcoin Treasuries data, publicly traded companies increased their BTC holdings by approximately 18% in the second quarter, adding about 131,000 BTC.
In contrast, while exchange-traded funds have become popular since the wave of U.S. Bitcoin ETF approvals began in January 2024, they have only increased their assets by 8% during the same period, which is approximately 111,000 BTC.
