The Rise of Web3 Entrepreneurship: Chinese Female Entrepreneurs Create a New Cross-Border Payment Platform
The Power of Women in the Web3 Field: The Entrepreneurial Journey of a Chinese Female Entrepreneur
In the field of Web3, which is full of opportunities and challenges, there is a Chinese female entrepreneur who has carved out her own space with courage, intelligence, and perseverance. She is a serial entrepreneur and a firm advocate for the Web3 industry. Her story is a remarkable tale of struggle, and it is believed to inspire more women to bravely pursue their dreams.
Continuous entrepreneurs who constantly challenge themselves
This female entrepreneur's startup story began in college. While her classmates were still enjoying campus life, she was already interning at major companies, accumulating valuable industry experience. In her words: "I knew early on what I wanted and was willing to put in 100% effort for it."
After graduating, she went to the United States to engage in international trade, earning her first pot of gold in life through hard work and intelligence. However, she was not satisfied with this. She defines herself as a "serial entrepreneur" who enjoys exploring new things, and this curiosity drives her to keep moving forward.
During the global economic crisis of 2008-2009, when many were plunged into panic, she saw hope in the darkness. She keenly captured new opportunities and resolutely stepped into the investment field. This decision not only changed the trajectory of her life but also laid the groundwork for her future entrepreneurial journey.
In 2017, the wave of blockchain swept in. Through a friend's introduction, she came into contact with Bitcoin. This female entrepreneur was deeply attracted by the potential of this emerging technology and began to delve into blockchain white papers and the Ethereum ecosystem. After deep contemplation, she firmly believed that the blockchain and Web3 industry had great prospects, so she decisively dedicated herself to it and established a fund specifically for investing in digital assets.
As the saying goes, "Opportunities always favor those who are prepared." During the investment process, she encountered and conducted in-depth research on many cryptocurrency exchanges, accumulating rich knowledge and experience. Later, an opportunity to visit the Latin American market allowed her to see the development prospects of crypto finance in the region, thus starting a new entrepreneurial journey.
From international trade to the investment sector, and then to her firm commitment to the Web3 industry, each of her transformations appears bold, yet reflects her personality trait of constantly challenging herself.
When asked why she enjoys constantly challenging herself and defines herself as a "serial entrepreneur," she admitted: "Perhaps it is in my nature; I was born to explore new possibilities."
Influenced by her family environment, she has been curious about the business world since childhood. During her elementary school holidays, she tried small trades and early on experienced the logic of buying low and selling high. She smiled and said: "I hope to not only go from 0 to 1, but also to constantly challenge myself, break boundaries, and achieve from 1 to 10000."
The Rise of Startups: Adhering to Compliance and Managing Diverse Teams
The story of this female entrepreneur's startup is like an adventure filled with surprises and challenges, with both accidental sparks and inevitable perseverance.
During an accidental inspection tour in Latin America, which was originally intended to search for investment projects, a new world opened unexpectedly. In this vibrant yet somewhat complex land, she keenly discovered a huge opportunity. The Latin American market faces issues such as inflation, currency instability, and a large population without bank accounts, making it extremely difficult to obtain US dollars and other fiat currencies. The decentralized nature and convenient transactions of digital currencies can precisely address these pain points. She instantly realized that this market is full of infinite possibilities and decided to embark on a new entrepreneurial journey here.
Thus, she unhesitatingly plunged into the Latin American market and established a compliant digital currency platform. This platform not only encompasses digital currency trading but also extends to various application scenarios such as payments, serving both B-end and C-end customers, and is committed to bringing more convenient and efficient financial solutions to the local market.
This became her bold attempt in the Web3 field. She said with great anticipation: "Our vision has never changed, we hope to promote the popularization and application of blockchain technology, integrating it into mainstream society to create broader value."
"Compliance operations" was the basic requirement she set for the new business from the very beginning. However, making cryptocurrency-related businesses compliant in Latin America is almost an untried endeavor. Regulatory agencies know very little about this emerging business and are unsure how to regulate it.
The more difficult part is that the process of obtaining a license is long and arduous. From preparing materials to communicating with regulatory bodies, each step requires a significant amount of time and effort. During this period, issues such as financial pressure and team management arose one after another. Many companies chose to give up in the face of these difficulties, but she did not. With her strong conviction and tenacious perseverance, she led the team to persist. After three years of hard work, they finally obtained Mexico's first compliant operating license for digital currency.
"Persistence is the key to our success," she concluded. "In this process, I not only learned how to communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds, but also honed my ability to stay focused and move forward amid challenges and uncertainty."
The team members of the startup come from different countries and cultural backgrounds, including Mexicans, Americans, Chinese, Argentinians, Brazilians, and more. How to lead such a diverse team is another important issue she faces.
"First is respect, respecting the culture and customs of each country." She said, "We cannot manage everyone with one model, but rather we should adapt to local conditions, understand the ways of thinking in different cultural contexts, and build a foundation of mutual trust and cooperation."
At the same time, she also emphasizes selecting talents that align with the company's philosophy. During the recruitment process, she conducts multiple rounds of interviews and tests, assessing not only the candidates' professional abilities but also their learning capacity, teamwork skills, tolerance for different cultures, and whether they align with the company's values. She hopes that team members can be proactive, continuously learn, and grow together with the company. Under her leadership, although the startup team is small in number, each member is outstanding, capable of working independently while closely collaborating to drive the company's growth and innovation.
Currently, this startup is focused on applying digital currency and blockchain technology to the field of cross-border payments. "We see the huge potential of digital currency in cross-border payments, as it can effectively address many pain points of traditional payment methods," she said. "Our goal is to provide businesses with efficient and low-cost cross-border payment solutions."
Currently, this company primarily focuses on B2B clients. She believes that there is a huge demand for digital currency in the B2B market. In Latin America, companies have traditionally relied on SWIFT for cross-border payments, but this method not only takes 5-7 days for funds to arrive, but the fees can reach as high as 2%-3%, leaving companies with limited options. Her company, supported by a professional team and compliant operations, offers a more efficient and cost-effective solution, with funds typically arriving within a few minutes to several tens of minutes, and transaction costs below 1%.
At the same time, this company is continuously expanding its C-end market. For Latin American immigrants in the United States, cross-border remittances have traditionally relied on certain services that not only have high fees and slow speeds but also require operations at physical locations. Now, they can complete transfers through this new platform at lower costs and faster speeds. In addition, the company indirectly reaches more C-end users by serving B-end clients, adopting a B2B2C model, allowing more people to enjoy more efficient and inclusive cross-border payment services, truly integrating the application of digital currency into daily financial scenarios.
"Her" Power Awakens: Leading Women Entrepreneurs on a New Journey
As a female leader who has achieved certain results in the Web3 industry, this entrepreneur has a profound understanding of the role of women in this field. "It's amazing that more and more women are joining this industry!" she said excitedly, "Although the industry is still male-dominated, the proportion of women is gradually increasing, which gives me hope."
She believes that women starting businesses in the Web3 industry walk a rugged mountain path, with both beautiful scenery and difficult challenges. "Women are usually more resilient than men and can handle pressure better," she said. "We don't easily say give up; even if the road ahead is fraught with thorns, we will find ways to persist." She also mentioned that women tend to have a stronger risk awareness and do not take risks lightly. "This protects us to some extent from some major risks, but it may also cause us to miss some opportunities," she lamented.
In terms of obtaining investment and resources, women may face more difficulties. She recalled that at some high-end industry events, she was often one of the few women present and sometimes even encountered scrutiny from others through a biased lens. "People often judge my abilities based on my appearance and gender, ignoring my professional qualifications and achievements." She paused but then firmly said, "But I believe women should not retreat because of this; instead, they should work even harder to prove themselves."
When talking about female role models, she thought for a long time. She believes that a true role model is not just someone who achieves success in business, but more importantly, someone who can have a profound impact on society and the future of humanity, and inspire others on a spiritual level. "In fact, there are many excellent female role models in this world, and everyone has something worth learning from. For me, the key is not gender, but the wisdom, courage, and influence they demonstrate," she said.
This female entrepreneur firmly believes that excellent female leaders share some common traits, such as resilience, ambition, and knowledge. "These traits enable us to persevere in the face of difficulties, set higher goals, and solve problems with knowledge," she said. "But everyone has their unique experiences and personalities, and these experiences and personalities ultimately shape our unique selves."
For young women who want to enter the Web3 industry, she has many suggestions. She emphasizes that first, one must clarify their goals and understand what kind of person they want to become. Before entering this industry, it is essential to have an in-depth understanding and research of the field and to develop a clear career plan. She also reminds young women to be cautious when choosing job and internship opportunities. When submitting a resume, one should consider whether the job can enhance their skills and whether it aligns with their career plan.
This female entrepreneur is confident about the future of women's empowerment. "I believe that as more and more women join this industry, the power of women will be seen by more people," she said. "We can not only succeed in this industry but also bring unique perspectives and value to it."
Her story is a brilliant bloom of women in the Web3 industry and a powerful interpretation of "her" strength.
