Block's CEO, Jack Dorsey, has announced the launch of the decentralized peer-to-peer chat application, BitChat. He wrote on platform X: "I did a weekend project to learn about Bluetooth networks, relay and storage, message encryption models, and other things. BitChat: Bluetooth mesh chat... in IRC style."
According to the readme file on GitHub, BitChat is a decentralized, secure peer-to-peer chat application that runs on a Bluetooth network, requiring no Internet, servers, or phone numbers, only pure encrypted communication.
