Japan's prime minister, Fumio Kishida, said the country's annual policy framework includes improvements to using Web3 tokens that also take into account user protection, and steps to revive the content industry.
In the videotape released at the WebX conference in Tokyo, Kishida emphasized that the Liberal Democratic Party continues to embrace Web3.
The country leader reiterated that “Web3 is part of the new form of capitalism,” explaining his economic policy aimed at growth by focusing on innovation, start-ups and digital transformation, adding:
“A major Japanese company will very soon announce its ambitious large-scale project that will create a valuable economic zone in the metaverse.”
Koichi Haguida, chair of the policy research council of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, gave a speech just before Kishida's speech to lay out the party's stance on Web3, saying that even those unfamiliar with the industry should take an "inclusive stance".
Since last year, a handful of Japan's politicians have been working on guidelines covering NFTs, stablecoins and DAOs, removing the tax requirement that forces project entrepreneurs to leave the country.
